Onward Bound (16th May)
A misty morning and an early start for us as we needed to get to the Ferry terminal for our trip to Vancouver Island. All very straightforward albeit the Monday morning drivers in Canada reminded me of travelling along the M25 (without the traffic jam!). Complete nutters some of them!
The ferry check-in was OK but the check-in booth fella asked me who were more friendly, people in the USA or those in Canada? Well, of course I answered 'the Canadians' and then added 'until we got here!'. Fortunately, he had a sense of humour and put us first in line to board the ferry. Our little Jeep Patriot is right at the front next to the white truck!
The crossing takes about 1 hour 45 minutes and was uneventful. On the island, their is nothing really to record until we turned onto route 4 heading west. This is a lovelly winding road through the mountains with the kind of 'switch-back's' motor cyclists would love! Scenery is lovely and we stopped at a nice little spot - not certain what it was called, but we know it was exactly 48 kilometers from our destination.
Eventually, we arived in Ucluelet just praying that the place we booked into would be quiet so we could recover from the two days' of travelling.
